Dressed & Ready?

ree

"Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his might. Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places. Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand firm. Stand therefore, having fastened on the belt of truth, and having put on the breastplate of righteousness, and as shoes for your feet, having put on the readiness given by the gospel of peace. In all circumstances take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming darts of the evil one; and take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God, praying at all times in the Spirit with all prayer and supplication. To that end, keep alert with all perseverance, making supplication for all the saints."

Ephesians 6:10-18 ESV

I have one question for you, are you dressed for battle?

Violence. Inflation. Unemployment. Sickness. Distress. What comes to mind when you think of these things? We are truly living in the evil day referred to in the passage above. Have you watched the news lately? People are hurting. People are lost. People are searching for answers. If I can be transparent, I, too, have found myself in these categories. Hurting. Lost. Searching for answers. Tired. Tired of trying to figure it “all” out on my own. Tired of fighting for my peace. Tired of going through the I-can’t-take-another-battle type of seasons. Only to find myself facing another battle and feeling defeated. Recently, I read this passage and was reminded that I have absolutely NO reason to feel this way. We are all fighting our own mini battles that are part of ONE fixed battle. You know what the word ‘fixed’ means here? We have already WON the battle..Not in our own strength, but in the strength of the Lord. Jesus promises us in John 16:33 that we will face difficulty in this world, BUT we can find peace in HIM because He has overcome the world. It.Cannot.Be.Changed.

In a letter written by the Apostle Paul to encourage, equip, and shine light on the Christian walk, we can find encouragement for today. In this letter, Paul explains our position in Christ and the tools we have to stand during evil times. Have you ever gone somewhere only to find out you didn't dress appropriately when you got there? In Texas, the weather can change multiple times throughout the day. I’ve learned to always have a jacket, hairpin, and umbrella in my car. Why? Because I want to be prepared no matter how drastically the weather changes. If you're like me and want to be prepared for life's many battles, let's be intentional about what we put on, starting by putting on the FULL armor of God. Feel free to comment below, we want to hear from you!
