found in peace.

When I reflect on the Lord's patience and how loving and forgiving He is, I am overjoyed. 2 Peter 3:9 says, “The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.”
The patience of the Lord is a direct example of His great love for us. In this passage, Peter is reminding believers that the day of the Lord is coming and no one knows the day or the hour when He will return. We must not only remember this but live in a manner that this rings true in our lives every single day. Each new day is a reminder that because the Lord loves us so much, He is providing time for us to get it right.
When we look at the world today and even how some respond when they are let down or disappointed by others, we often see the opposite response. Instead of extending the same love and grace we receive from our loving Father, we often respond according to our own standards. We cut people off. We walk away instead of turning the other cheek. We lean into our limited understanding of various situations, instead of letting God’s perspective lead us in forgiveness and patience. Yes, we are human, it is natural for us to set boundaries and try to protect ourselves when we are hurt, but we must do so in love. As we yield to the Holy Spirit, He will lead and guide us in all truth and give us everything we need to not only have a heavenly perspective when facing challenges but also show us how to extend the same patience He constantly extends to us.
When we walk in love and forgiveness, sharing the good news that Jesus loves everyone, no matter their background, mistakes, or past lifestyles, we are partnering with the Lord, in hope that no one will perish! When He returns, we will each have to stand before Him to give an account of our actions and what we did with what He gave us. & I don’t know about you, but I want to be found right. To be found right is to be found in peace, free from fear and disturbing passions. I want to be settled in Jesus, just as Peter describes in 2 Peter 3:14: “Since you are waiting for these, be diligent to be found by him without spot or blemish, and at peace.”
The Lord reminded me that the key to being found right is abiding in Him.
As we hold fast to our faithful, loving Father, He will deliver and protect us.
He will answer when we call.
He will be with us in trouble.
He will rescue us and honor us.
He will satisfy us with long life and show us His Salvation.
Psalm 91:14-16
Because one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day (2 Peter 3:8), we can’t be distracted by time and how much of it we have left to be found in peace. We should instead daily live our lives in a way that proclaims His coming both in how we respond to those around us and in our works for His Kingdom…so that none will perish but that all reach repentance.
