just, too much.

A demanding job, health concerns, relationship issues, caring for a loved one, serving in ministry... All these things happening at the same time can lead to burnout and feelings of being overwhelmed. Burnout can feel like drowning in waves - where the water keeps rising faster than you can swim. Or it may feel like carrying a backpack full of rocks with every worry adding more weight until it feels too heavy to carry.
This is where I’ve been lately.
Trying to carry a heavy load, a burden meant only for Jesus to carry. In Matthew 11:28-30, Jesus says, "Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light." Trying to carry heavy burdens of excessive demands on our lives, with challenges and difficulties, is just too much!
Here are 3 key things we must remember when we find ourselves carrying burdens we're not meant to carry:
1. We must have faith in God's promises and cast our cares on Him (1 Peter 5:7)
2. When our heart grows faint, we have to stand on the rock that is higher than I (Psalm 61:2)
3. Find rest in His presence - Jesus wants us to come to Him when we are weary and burdened, promising to give us rest (Matthew 11:28)
We do not have to carry heavy burdens alone. Jesus offers rest and invites us to cast our cares on Him because He cares deeply for every aspect of our lives. When we come to Him, we receive His peace, rest, and strength.
God is loving.
All-knowing.
And all-powerful.
He is a faithful Father who is concerned about every detail of our lives. He cares so much that He even numbered the hairs on our head (Matthew 10:30). He loves us with an Everlasting love (Jeremiah 31:3), and in His sovereignty, He cares for us in ways we would never imagine.
God is faithful and for that I am truly grateful!
I am so thankful for this post. It is very much needed, this summer was really busy for me and Matthew 11:28-30 reminded me to stay rested in God. Sometimes we are so busy doing things that we miss the fact that the only place we should be running to is to the arms of Jesus. Because He is the only one that can handle alllllll our things....Whooooo Jesus!
God is for us! It is reassuring to know that in the hard places He is with us.
Great post. God is all knowing- so casts your concerns to Him
And He will give you rest. He will never put more on us than we can bear. When I’m feeling this way I often listen to Kirk Franklin- “he will never put more on you” and gets me through the day/night.
