Refined For What's Next

Updated: May 17

In life, I'm learning, we can't rush what God is refining. There are some things we pray for that require us to become stronger, wiser, and more prepared to sustain them. If it came too soon, it might overwhelm us instead of bless us.

Growth is not just about receiving. It’s about becoming. Sometimes we focus so much on the outcome that we overlook the process, but the process is where the real transformation happens. God isn’t just trying to get something to us, He’s working to build something in us; character, discipline, discernment, and endurance.

What you’re asking for may be big, meaningful, and life-changing… and with that comes responsibility. The weight of the blessing has to match the strength of the person carrying it. That’s why God allows time for stretching, for pruning, for learning lessons that don’t always feel good in the moment but are necessary for where you’re going.

If it arrived before you were ready, you might mishandle it, lose it, or even be crushed by the pressure of it. But when God refines us first, He ensures that what He gives us can be sustained, appreciated, and stewarded well.

So even when it feels slow, we must trust that it’s intentional. We're not being overlooked. We're being prepared, and when it finally comes, we won’t just have the blessing… we will have the maturity to keep it!

"Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time." -1 Peter 5:6
