knowing.

How easy is it for you to believe what you know versus what you see? I know for me, it depends on the category. Some things are easier to believe before I see them, while others take a little extra help. The first thing I can think of is when my husband periodically drops me off at work. I tell him when I’ll be ready, and I can trust that unless he tells me otherwise, he will be there at the expected time. I can take his word for it because he’s proved I can trust him to be on time.
Now, things that seem impossible or hard to understand, that’s a different story…For example, seven years ago, the doctor noticed my thyroid was enlarged. I was referred to a specialist and had multiple tests done. After reviewing all the tests, a biopsy was recommended. I didn’t know what to expect, and I was nervous to find out what the results would reveal. As you can imagine, here's where I needed help. I felt my faith running out, and I started to feel anxious and overwhelmed about the upcoming biopsy…I prayed, fasted, and reminded myself of God’s promises by reading His word. Over and over. I knew I needed the strength of God to keep going, and I knew that was the only way I could believe in what I couldn’t see. After weeks of waiting, I had to have one more test done right before the biopsy to check the size one last time & I’m glad to report that when the doctor looked at the results, they were in complete awe. I no longer needed a biopsy because the measurements were within the normal parameters...I get goosebumps every time I share this testimony!!! This story reminds me to always trust God, no matter what the doctor says, what I see, or what seems impossible!
As we prepare for Christmas, I encourage you to do the same. Whatever you’re believing God for, know that He is a promise keeper. And if He said it, you can count on it! Just as the angel came to Mary and told her she was favored to carry the promise of God, I want to inspire you to look at your situation from God’s perspective. He is doing something great in you, and although you may not see it now, you can trust that what He’s promised will come to pass!
That’s what Christmas is all about. It's not about the presents and the sweet treats. Or the best shopping deals. Christmas is the celebration of the birth of Jesus, the fulfillment of God’s promise! As we carry what God has placed in us, I pray that our responses be that of Mary’s in Luke 1:38: “And Mary said, "Behold, I am the servant of the Lord; let it be to me according to your word." Although things may not always look how we think they should or happen like we want them to, we must be confident in what we KNOW to be true:
• God is with us always (Deuteronomy 31:8)
• With Him, nothing is impossible (Luke 1:37)
• His Word will accomplish what He sent it to do (Isaiah 55:11)
