Remember.

ree

There is power in remembering.

Our memories can push us forward or cause us to stumble in defeat. Instead of focusing on the many things I’ve done wrong, I decided a long time ago to put more energy into how I can make better choices moving forward. This is not an easy task, and the moment I start rehearsing the “coulda – shoulda – woulda’s,” I can literally feel myself sinking. In these moments, we must put in extra effort to focus on everything Jesus did right for us.

Many of us spent time with our friends and family at the beginning of the month to celebrate Easter. Easter reminds us that a new day has come! We don’t have to lead lives of fear, pressured by the ebbs and flows of this world. Instead, we can walk in total freedom because of Jesus and all he accomplished on the cross!

Take some time to reflect on where you’ve come from. Spiritually and emotionally. Maybe you’ve made great strides over the years, and those little things that bothered you for so long are no longer an issue. Or perhaps you feel you have so much work to do and keep messing up. No matter where you may find yourself, my prayer is that you find peace in knowing that our Faithful Father is right there with you with His arms open to shower you with love. He is so faithful, and each of us has a unique story that speaks of His steadfast love.

I failed an exam a few years ago, and I remember feeling so helpless. I was so afraid of failing while taking the exam that I could hardly focus. I studied hard and practiced before the test, and fear caused me to fail. Before retaking the exam, I prayed and asked God for strategies to overcome fear during testing. He told me to memorize scripture and rehearse it before and during the exam. I retook the exam, used God's strategy, and passed the second time! I didn’t understand why I experienced this until recently when I came in contact with someone going through the same exact thing. I shared the strategies God gave me, and they were so happy to know they were not alone. I'm glad I remembered.

In life, we will experience things that we won’t always understand. But through it all, we must always take time to remember the faithfulness of God. Because how we remember our salvation can change the trajectory of our lives!

Whenever I feel myself about to stress out about something, I recall times where God did something similar in my life…or really anytime He came through for me in the past. It helps so much!

Yesssss & Isn’t amazing how much easier it is to recall His faithfulness the more you do it? Like it’s hard for me to stay down because my mind instantly start replaying how good He’s been. 🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽

The older I get, remembering is hard 😂. Simple things like, why I entered a room, where I left my phone, what did I need from this store, etc. So now I am forced to write things down. Grocery lists, things to do, what God said!! This has become a useful tool in my everyday life as well as reminding me of the promises of God.

Lol, I can agree with you! Lol especially those lists…do You have a specific place where you write what God said? Like a journal? Or sticky notes?
