still, I trust.

Trusting God sounds easy—but it’s tested in moments of uncertainty.

The Bible is full of God’s promises to us. He reminds us that He will never leave us nor forsake us (Deuteronomy 31:6). He assures us that those who trust in Him will never be put to shame (Psalm 25:3). We’re told that the prayer of the righteous is powerful and effective (James 5:16), and that many are the afflictions of the righteous, but the Lord delivers them out of them all (Psalm 34:19).

These are only a few of the powerful promises found throughout the Bible.

But here’s the real heart question: Do we trust God to fulfill them?

Do we really trust Him to be who He says He is and to do what He has promised—especially when we can’t see it? Or when what we see doesn't quite line up with what He said?

When unexpected things happen in our lives—loss, delays, disappointments, unanswered prayers—it can be hard to remember God’s promises. In those moments, our faith is really tested, and how we respond reveals our true heart posture.

Think about it, when someone makes you a promise, the way you wait reveals whether you truly believe them or not. As a child, when my mom made a promise to me, I trusted her completely. I didn’t sit around worrying or checking every five minutes—I was confident that what she said would happen.

God invites us to trust Him the same way.

While we’re waiting for Him to fulfill His promises, how do you think He feels when we're consumed with the “how” or the “when”? Instead of allowing the unknown to overtake us, we must focus on who God is and remember our strength is renewed as we wait on Him (Isaiah 40:31). Being obedient, growing in faith, and walking in joy strengthen us in ways we can feel and see. It shows both ourselves and others that while we wait, we can serve God wholeheartedly, trusting His promises will come to pass.

As I was writing this, I thought about how often I say, “I trust God, but…” and I was immediately challenged to shift my heart’s posture to “I trust God, and…”

  • I trust God, and I know He is working all things together for my good (Romans 8:28)

  • I trust God, and His Word will not return to Him void (Isaiah 55:11)

  • I trust God, and His plans for me are good — plans to give me hope and a future (Jeremiah 29:11)

If you are currently in a season of waiting or transitioning in or out of one, I encourage you to stand on the promises of God. Believe that He will accomplish everything He has spoken over your life. And you will find strength as you serve Him with your whole heart.

When the waiting feels long, keep trusting His heart and His Word.

Because He is faithful—every single time. 💛
