The God Who Cannot Fail

“David also said to Solomon his son, “Be strong and courageous, and do the work. Do not be afraid or discouraged, for the LORD God, my God, is with you. He will not fail you or forsake you until all the work for the service of the temple of the LORD is finished.” - 1 Chronicle 28:2
“David also said to Solomon his son, “Be strong and courageous, and do the work. Do not be afraid or discouraged, for the LORD God, my God, is with you. He will not fail you or forsake you until all the work for the service of the temple of the LORD is finished.” - 1 Chronicle 28:2

In this chapter God chose David’s son Solomon to build his temple (1 Chronicles 28:6). Although Solomon was inexperienced, his father instructed him to “be strong and courageous, and do the work, assuring him that God will be with him and will not forsake him despite the huge task ahead.

I remember my first day at my new job. I felt excited and eager. My first year as an educator would be filled with daily victories. However, my daily victories would soon become months of major challenges, bringing on a unique set of emotions. The pressure to meet standards, the lack of resources, the lack of support, the weight of helping each student succeed. All of this felt impossibly heavy and I soon learned the feeling of being stretched too thin, or questioning if you’re doing enough, is real.

Just like David encouraged Solomon that he was selected by God to build his temple, I am here to remind you that we too have been chosen by God to accomplish great things. The tasks before us may seem huge in our eyes, BUT we must always remember that we are never alone for “the LORD himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged (Deuteronomy 31:8).

Whenever tasks feel overwhelming remember Jeremiah 1:5, “Before I formed you in the womb, I knew you...". In moments of extreme pressure and uncertainty, I remind myself through scripture and prayer that nothing I face is bigger than God. He reigns supreme! He is our Sovereign God and everything is subject to him!

We have all been chosen by God to carry out specific tasks, for His glory.

God is our creator. His word says, “For you formed my inward parts; you knitted me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are your works; my soul knows it very well. (Psalm 139:13). So, no matter what we face today or in the days to come, we must hold on to the truth of God’s word and remember He has given us everything we need to get the job done. We must trust him, obey him, and walk it out in faith...Lastly, always remember that our God cannot fail!
